CHARACTER COUNTS! offers teen survival guide

PRESS RELEASE DATE: JULY 24, 2007

CHARACTER COUNTS! and the Library Foundation of Martin County are offering a free seminar called “Family Ties: Surviving the Teenage Years” to help parents and youth overcome barriers to communication.

Susan Dockerill, founder of Life Works Parenting Tools, will lead the presentation, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 5 in the John F. Armstrong Wing of the Blake Library, 2351 SE Monterey Road, Stuart.

The event is free but space is limited, so pre-registration is required.

“The program is ideal for parents and their children in middle school and high school,” said CHARACTER COUNTS! director Holly Laiben. “Among other things, it is designed to help parents hear what their teens are really saying, how to help them cope with problems, and how to spend time together without the attitude.”

To pre-register or for more information, please call Mrs.Laiben at (772) 283-4800, ext. 234. To register online, go to www.charactercounts.net.
