Golf
tourney nets $19,000 for CHARACTER COUNTS! in
Martin County
The eighth annual Tee It Up for
Character charity golf tournament attracted more
than 100 golfers to Monarch Country Club in Palm
City on April 29.
As the sole fundraiser for
United Way of Martin County’s CHARACTER COUNTS!
program, this year’s golf tournament raised more
than $19,000 for character education activities and
resources throughout Martin County thanks to the
generosity of sponsors, auction bidders, players and
special contributors.
"CHARACTER COUNTS! encourages
good sportsmanship and increases public awareness of
the importance of core ethical values," CHARACTER
COUNTS! Director Holly Laiben said. "This golf
fundraiser will help to ensure these activities
continue."
All participants enjoyed a
buffet dinner following the tournament featuring a
live auction with auctioneer Elliot Paul, of Elliot
Paul & Co., who auctioned off golf foursomes at
McArthur, Loblolly, The Medalist, Willoughby,
Piper’s Landing and Harbour Ridge, as well as a
photo session with Dultmeier Photography and a
western Martin County RV excursion and brunch with
hosts Butch and Jan Bayley.
Raffle prizes were also given
out and included foursomes at Lost Lake and The Club
at Pointe West, gift certificates for Peter’s Steak
House, Courtine’s, Just Gold Jewelers, tickets for
the Atlantic Classical Orchestra and to the Library
Foundation of Martin County’s 2011 BookMania Meet
the Authors Cocktail Party.
Additionally, each par-3 hole
had a hole-in-one prize, including a 2010 Buick
LaCrosse and other gifts courtesy of Carl’s
Buick-Pontiac-GMC and a resort getaway courtesy of
Monarch Country Club.
The corporate sponsor was
