Lyric Theatre, Stuart News team up with CHARACTER COUNTS! to recognize students

PRESS RELEASE DATE: OCTOBER 13, 2009

CHARACTER COUNTS! in Martin County has teamed up with The Stuart News and The Lyric Theatre to recognize students through the CHARACTER COUNTS! Student of the Week program.

Now in its second year, the program recognizes one Martin County public school student each week who exhibits one or all of the Six Pillars of Character – Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.

Each student is then acknowledged weekly in The Stuart News School Digest, given a certificate, a CHARACTER COUNTS! bracelet and four tickets to attend a performance at The Lyric Theatre in downtown Stuart with their family.

“The Lyric Theatre contacted CHARACTER COUNTS! during the summer expressing their desire to collaborate on the CHARACTER COUNTS! Student of the Week project and show their appreciation to these students and their families for displaying good character,” CHARACTER COUNTS! Director Holly Laiben said.

“We are thrilled and extremely grateful for The Lyric Theatre’s generous donation that impacts more than 35 students and their families in Martin County by providing them with tickets for an exciting evening of theater, music and dance.

“The Lyric Theatre’s support of the CHARACTER COUNTS! program demonstrates their commitment to serving our youth and community with integrity.”
