Publix Super Markets
has given the United Way of Martin County
annual campaign a healthy start.
Publix launched its
campaign at the beginning of September, and
announced recently that its employees have
pledged $175,000 to United Way and its
affiliated agencies. That’s about $22,000
more than last year.
The grocer’s
headquarters will provide an additional
donation based on employee giving. Last
year, the total between the employees and
the corporation amounted to $280,919. Publix
believes in United Way because of the
visible impact it makes in local
communities.
United Way of Martin
County’s campaign goal for 2007-08 is $2.3
million. The fund-raising drive will
encompass workplace giving and a
community-based campaign and will be capped
by the Champions of the Community awards
dinner on March 27, 2008.
