The law firm of Lesser,
Lesser, Landy & Smith is inviting the legal community to
a special event Jan. 16 on behalf of United Way of
Martin County.
Florida Rep. William D.
Snyder will be the featured guest speaker during the
event, which will be held 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 16
at Piper’s Landing, 6160 SW Thistle Terr., Palm City.
Rep. Snyder will discuss his past experiences as a
United Way board member and his recently sponsored state
legislation.
“Our effort plans to bring
together the legal community, United Way representatives
and community leaders to celebrate the United Way’s
contribution to the community,” said Chad Hastings, a
personal injury attorney with Lesser, Lesser, Landy &
Smith.
Hastings is a member of the
United Way of Martin County’s Campaign Cabinet for
2007-2008. The Campaign Cabinet is the group responsible
for setting the local United Way’s annual campaign goal,
which this year is $2.3 million. Each member of the
Cabinet is responsible for leading efforts in particular
market segments, and Hastings has vowed to increase
awareness about United Way among his colleagues in the
legal community.
“I decided to become involved
with United Way of Martin County because I was impressed
with the many programs conducted by the organization,
such as the White Dove Holiday Project, the School
Supplies for Students Drive, and the volunteer-driven
resource investment process for allocating funds to
agency programs,” Hastings said.
The Jan. 16 event, which is
for attorneys practicing law in Martin County, will
include complimentary hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.
There is no fee to attend, but reservations should be
made by Jan. 11. RSVP to Wendie Berardi at United Way of
Martin County, (772) 283-4800, ext. 227.
