Wilmington Trust is
celebrating a milestone anniversary by giving
gifts to United Way.
“As part of Wilmington
Trust’s 25th anniversary in Florida in 2008, we
will be making a one-time donation of $25,000 to
the United Way by splitting the gift into the
three communities in which Wilmington Trust has
offices and clients in Florida,” said Kemp C.
Stickney, president of wealth advisory,
Wilmington Trust FSB-Florida.
The United Way of Martin is
one of the recipients, along with United Way of
Indian River County and the Town of Palm Beach.
These United Ways will be receiving checks of
$8,333, “in honor of our clients in your
communities,” Mr. Stickney said.
United Way of Martin County
is celebrating a significant anniversary of its
own, marking 35 years of advancing the common
good. United Way also is working its way to the
most important annual milestone – the campaign
goal, which this year is $2.3 million.
Donations and pledges have
reached about 80 percent of the goal, and the
campaign continues throughout March.
Meeting – and exceeding
that goal – is more important than ever. With
people facing rising costs and unemployment,
requests for emergency assistance are outpacing
available resources. United Way agencies report
that requests for food assistance are up 44%
over last year, financial assistance by 38% and
clothing by 20%.
